The game engine is severely outdated, but the BFG Edition polishes the graphics and gameplay mechanics by adding a flashlight that you no longer have to hold manually (like in the original DOOM 3) making it easier to play, and is more forgiving, providing more ammo and health. On the other hand, it doesn’t feature the chainsaw, which normal DOOM 3 does. This game is, unlike others say, notoriously terrifying. The low-poly monsters, ah, what a pleasure! Enemies quietly spawning in rooms behind giving you jumpscares whenever you walk on, perfection! The old engine may be the reason that gives the game its charm indeed. Simple but extremely effective. It’s the perfect game for those who love shambling horrors from beyond the stars and the madness of Hell! Extremely reccomended!
